Viable Play On-Demand Through June 10th

Friends,

The virus may have shut down live events all over the country, but people are finding remarkable ways to adapt and overcome. Some have begun livestreaming events or recording them for viewing through on-demand services. One such event is the play Viable, a pro-life play which brings light to the sometimes-neglected mission of post-abortive recovery. Our Executive Director, Esther Ripplinger, had this to say about the play:

“As a woman who has recovered from abortion and has shared my story publicly over the years, and because of my position, I get many requests to review pro-life books, music, poetry, and such. When I first heard about Viable, I was skeptical. Abortion recovery is a difficult issue to portray authentically. Then I went to see Viable at the National Right to Life Convention, and I have to say, it is excellent!”

Viable is a play told with three actors, two chairs, and one incredible narrative. It centers around a woman who had an abortion thirty years prior. Still dealing with unresolved grief and pain, she has an unexpected encounter which sets her on the path to healing, forgiveness, and renewal. It’s a powerful story of hope and reconciliation, one that showcases the vital importance of post-abortive recovery.

“The script is realistic and accurately portrays the aftermath of abortion,” says Ripplinger, “a reality that is the elephant in room in many homes. Many within the pro-life movement understand that forgiveness is available, but we must also understand that healing is a separate and equally important matter.”

Abortion recovery also affects future abortions. One hard statistic is that, in 2016, there were about 17,000 abortions in the state of Washington. Of those, over 7,000 were repeat abortions, which comes out to about 43%.

What this means in practical terms is that, if we can help heal the women who have already had at least one abortion, we can stop 43% of abortions from happening! Events like Viable shine a spotlight on the issue and pave the way for a concerted effort to support this essential ministry.

“I hope Viable will help all pro-lifers to understand how abortion has affected our society, while also giving us a tangible road map to recovery. What Abby Johnson’s Unplanned film was to abortion, Viable can be to abortion recovery. This is a game-changer. Sign up for the viewing and share it!”

The online viewing of Christian Creative Media’s Viable performance is a limited time event running through June 10th, sponsored by our parent organization, National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), in cooperation with Salem Media. Renting the video at any point during the event will grant unlimited viewing for the duration.

In addition to raising awareness about this critical issue, this month-long event is also a fundraising effort for NRLC and its state affiliates – which, for Washington residents, means Human Life of Washington. Proceeds from the rental go to support our ministry throughout the state and the country.

Human Life of Washington is proud to partner with both state and national post-abortive recovery ministries and facilitators, including Care-Net, SaveOne, Heartbeat International, Rachel’s Vineyard and Project Rachel, and many local organizations. These hardworking people are on the front lines healing wounds and saving lives, and we are honored to be able to support them through our own network.

If you and your family would like to help raise awareness for abortion recovery and its partner organizations through the Viable fundraiser, you can follow this link to the Salem Media website. You can also help by sharing the event on Facebook and social media.

As always, we are one powerful voice uniting for life.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a happy Mothers Day!
