05 Mar Xavier Becerra, “Equality Act”
Xavier Becerra is a Scary Guy
Biden’s pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) is a disturbing one, and not just because he has no medical background. Getting into all the reasons would take pages (click here for the list), so let’s hit a few of the highlights:
- He voted multiple times to support late-term abortions – when babies feel pain.
- He voted in support of infanticide in 2003 (supporting partial-birth abortions) and in 2015 (voting against the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act).
- The Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA) was intended to prevent sex-discrimination by making it a crime to abort babies based on gender. Becerra voted against this anti-discrimination act!
Most Americans (including many pro-choice Americans) oppose sex-selective abortions, late-term and partial-birth abortions, and many other extreme abortion stances taken by Becerra. (See the numbers).

The Equality Act
The “Equality Act” is marketed chiefly as an effort to stop discrimination against people based on gender or sexual orientation. Unfortunately, it also explicitly requires taxpayer-funded abortion in all nine months of pregnancy – which most Americans oppose. It attacks 1st Amendment conscience rights protections for those opposed to ending preborn life or paying to end it.
Ironically, the “Equality Act” attacks the most basic universal right – the right to life. Fighting against discrimination and for genuine equality must begin when life does – in the womb.
You can tell your Senators to oppose the Equality act here.
Please also call Senator Joe Manchin (WV) at 202-224-3954 and respectfully urge him to oppose this act. Manchin’s voting record isn’t perfect regarding abortion, but he has supported life-affirming efforts in the past. His vote is critical for us.
